FAQ

Are handymen insured?

Yes! Yes. Most insurance companies cover liability claims over $1 million for accident property damage or bodily harm. This means that if something goes wrong during the course of the project, your insurance company will generally compensate you for the damages caused.

How many hours does it normally take to complete a typical DIY project?

An average DIY project takes between two and four hours. The complexity and difficulty of the project will determine how long it takes.

What happens if a handyman causes harm and I'm not satisfied with his work?

Notify your contractor immediately if there is a problem with the project. It is a good idea to keep a detailed log and include photographs. You can then contact your insurance company to file an insurance claim.

How often should I hire a handyman?

It all depends on what your project is. You might only need one handyman per work week if your job is a simple fix-it, such as changing a light bulb. For large-scale remodeling projects, you might need to hire several handymen.

What can a handyman do to fix my leaky faucets

Although a handyman can handle minor repairs, he won't have the skills to complete major projects like wiring a house and installing custom cabinets. For minor home improvement tasks, however, there are no limits to what a handyman can accomplish.

Do I need to pay a handyman per hour or per project?

Personal preference will dictate the final price. Some prefer to pay per hour so they can see the actual cost of their handyman. Others prefer to be paid for each job completed, since they may need multiple jobs at the same time. Either way, it's fine.

Where do handymen come?

Although there are many handymen in the United States, almost all of them were not originally contractors. Most of them started out as a tradesman. They learned the craft through apprenticeships. As a result, they often possess great skill sets and a wealth of knowledge, which makes them very valuable assets to any company.

How do I replace a cracked window?

Replacing broken windows is one of the most common home improvement tasks. Repairing damage to glass within your home is the task. Repairs should take about 30 minutes in this situation. However, if you are not familiar with how to replace broken panes of glass, you may cause further damage to the home. This article will give you some helpful tips for replacing broken windows.

First step: Take the glass out of its frame

To remove the old glass, you must first lift out the screws holding the windowpane in place. Then undo the lock at the top center of the bottom section of the window frame. Next, pull the window up slightly so it's no longer attached to the sill plate (the metal bar below the floor). Finally, use a pry tool to carefully loosen the remaining screws until they pop out of their holes. Clean the panes thoroughly after they are taken out.

Next step: Clean the glass

Use a dry towel or paper towel to clean the glass. You can clean the glass with a spray bottle containing water and rubbing alcohol if there is any debris underneath.

Third Step: Reinstall new glass

Reattach the window panes into the frames. With the tip of a screwdriver, push down on the bottom edge of the outermost window pane. Gently push down on the lower edge of the outermost pane with the tip of a screwdriver. Then move to the next pane, pushing it firmly against the previous pane before reattaching it. Continue inserting the windows until they are all assembled. To seal the area where the panes meet, use a silicone caulk gun.

Fourth step: Repair the damaged area

If you are installing new glass, be sure to inspect the area where the break occurred. This will help determine if further repairs are necessary. In the event that the hole is located near the corner of your window, place two small pieces on either side of it. These wooden blocks will be strong and can also act as spacers, keeping the glass in its place during expansion and contract of the weatherproofing.

Fourth step: Sealing the area

After the glass has had to be replaced, apply silicone caulking at the perimeter edges. This will seal the glass to the wallboard. Silicone caulking can be purchased at hardware stores and online. Be sure to choose a color that matches the existing paint on the walls.

Let the caulking set overnight. You should not disturb the caulking after it has fully hardened. You may crack the caulking by not waiting long enough.
