Why should I hire a handyman rather than doing it myself?

A handyman can save you time and money. Not only does this save you the hassle of hiring someone else, but it also saves you the headache of getting everything right the first time. You can also hire a handyman who has the right equipment and supplies to do the job right.

Is it cheaper to hire handyman than general contractors for the same job?

Yes! Sometimes, a handyman can be a better alternative to hiring a general contractor to complete the task. This is especially true when you've never had a contractor complete a task before. Handymen can also speed up the completion time of projects because they are skilled at completing specific tasks faster and more efficiently.

Is it worth spending extra money on professional handyman service?

This depends entirely on the type of project you want to be performed. For complex projects, such as an office renovation or construction project, a professional handyman would be a great option.

What is the average time it takes for a handyman in order to complete a project?

It all depends upon the size of your project. The size of the project will determine how long it takes. Larger projects may take more time. Regardless of the size, though, a handyman will typically finish within one week.

How To

How to replace a broken window

Repairing broken windows is one the most common home improvement jobs. The job involves repairing the damage done to the glass in your home. Repairs should take about 30 minutes in this situation. But if you do not know how to replace a broken pane of glass, then you risk causing further damage to the house. This article will give you some helpful tips for replacing broken windows.

First step: Remove the old glass from its frame

To remove the old glass, you must first lift out the screws holding the windowpane in place. Next, undo the lock in the middle of the bottom section. Next, lift the window upwards so it isn’t attached to sill plates (the metal bars below the floor). Finally, use a pry tool to carefully loosen the remaining screws until they pop out of their holes. Clean the panes thoroughly after they are taken out.

Second step: Clean and polish the new glass

Use a dry towel or paper towel to clean the glass. A spray bottle filled with water, rubbing alcohol and water can be used to clean debris stuck beneath the glass.

Third Step: Reinstall new glass

Attach the window frames to the panes. Begin by gently pressing down on one end of the outermost panel with the tip a screwdriver. Gently push the pane back into the opening in the frame. Next, insert the next pane by pressing it against the first pane. Continue inserting panes until all windows are assembled. To seal the area where the panes meet, use a silicone caulk gun.

Fourth step: Repair any damage.

When installing the new glass, inspect the area around the hole to determine whether any additional repairs are needed. Install two pieces of small wood on each side of any hole if the break was near the corner. These wooden blocks will add strength to the window while also acting as spacers to keep the glass in place during the expansion and contraction of the weatherproofing material.

Fiveth step: Seal the repair area

After replacing the glass, you can apply silicone caulking along the perimeter edges to the window frame. This will seal the glass to the wallboard. Silicone caulking is available at hardware stores as well as online. Choose a color that matches your walls.

Allow the caulking to cure overnight. The caulking should be left to harden completely before you disturb it. You can cause cracking in the caulking if it isn't left enough time.
